Hlavným headlinerom poľského Malta Festivalu Poznan 2013 budú legendárni Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk patria k priekopníkom elektronickej hudby.

The main musical act of MALTA FESTIVAL POZNAN, will be this year the legendary group KRAFTWERK – one of the few bands who have made a revolutionary change in modern music, not only by playing the crucial role in the development of electronic music, but also by inspiring several new musical genres.
KRAFTWERK, who pioneered the use of “machines” such as synthesisers, computers and their own invention – vocoders, are the prophets of transhumanism and an unquestionable icon whose impact reaches far beyond music. Their unique stage image and their complex and experimental multimedia projections accompanying the concerts are as distinctive and inspiring as their music. From 2005, when they were invited to the Venice Biennale, they have realised several of their projects in the context of visual arts. The crowning success in this matter was last year’s retrospective of their work at the MoMA in New York, featuring eight 3D concerts presenting the audio and video material from the group’s eight studio albums. In February 2013, the project will be presented at Tate Modern in London. The concert at Malta Festival Poznań, which will take place on the 28th of June, will be an adaptation of these shows.
Malta Festival Poznan (24th – 29th of June 2013) is famous for its musical offer. Every night, at the festival club, there is a range of fee concerts topped up with a hugely popular Silent Disco. Besides the musical part the festival presents an extensive programme of events in the field of preforming arts. Romeo Castellucci, the renowned Italian artist working in the field of theatre, performance and visual arts who, this year, is the curator of the performing arts programme. He belongs to the select group of artists who truly determine the course of theatrical life in Europe. Yet, he rarely undertakes curatorial work – in 2005 he curated the programme of the theatre part of the Venice Biennale and in 2008 he was artiste associé at the Avignon Festival. This makes his acceptance to be the curator of this years’ Malta Festival Poznań all the more momentous. As the curator, Castellucci invites to our festival an exciting set of international artists, renowned for their distinctive and innovative artistic language. The main theme of Malta Festival Poznań 2013 is the relationship between man and machine being a byword for technology.
