Me and Billy wrote that song and then we brought in Al Clay, whose does a lot of my post-production and mixing. Hes amazing and hilarious and he smokes really good cigars. Hes kind of like our clean up guy and hes so much fun. And Ave Mary A is a fun song. I cant wait to hear ten thousand people screaming that back to me. So What - So What, what do I have to say about So What? So What?! So What was a joke. I heard this beat from Max Martin. Its such a fun beat, so fun. And I was actually kidding when I said I guess I just lost my husband, I dont know where he went. Ha ha, thats really funny. Lets keep it and it just kind of went from there. And it just got more and more wrong. The more lines we wrote, the wronger it was. And we kept it because I dont really care. I dont think about the consequences when I write songs and now I am regretting every second of it. No, Im not. Sober - Sober is a song that ironically I drank a lot while
My favorite thing to do is sit around with friends over sake and beer and talk about our drinking problems. I am not a quitter. I thought about creating an Alcoholics Obvious. And we would go to bars and celebrate how great drinking is. And so I wrote a song called Sober, which I am not actually being funny
Actually I am being funny. Seriously, Sober is a dark, kind of sad song. And its about the vices that we choose and I had this idea in my head, like how do I feel this good sober? So I brought that idea to Danja and with this awesome girl Kara DioGuardi and we wrote this song, Sober. And its a pretty telling song and then me and Tony Kanal and Jimmy Harry finished it, production-wise, threw some strings on it and made it a little bit darker and a little bit more rocky. I dont know its just a really really personal beautiful song, one of my favorites I think.Crystal Ball - Me and Billy were sitting in the studio in New York and we always have a song were were kind of sitting together in a room like this with mics set-up, guitar mics and vocal mics, and we kind of just do a song once through with candles lit. No production, no pretension, no perfectionism, nothing. Its just a vibe, its an energy captured. And thats that song and, you know, its pretty obvious what it means. But I dont want to know the future. I think thats the best part is not knowing. And with The One That Got Away was one of those songs from the last record where, you know, we may have a little too much to drink or not enough or were kind of right in the yummy middle ground. And then Billy gets so pissed at me because I wanted to use the demos. I dont mix a lot of those songs. A lot of those songs on the record dont get mixed. Some of them dont even get mastered. I dont want them touched. And then hes like let me re-sing my part! Absolutely not. He gets so mad at me. The One That Got Away and Crystal Ball, if you listen close enough, hes singing the wrong words, were not even singing the same song. But its so beautiful because its an energy. Its nothing else but a raw vibe recorded. So thats that song.Glitter In The Air - What can you say about Glitter In The Air. Glitter In The Air was a fun moment. Billy Mann again and I
Yeah, I mean those are some questions. I hope that anyone that listens to that song can answer yes to every one of those questions because if they can theyve had a yummy, yummy night. I Dont Believe You - The first thing that comes to my mind with I Dont Believe You is me standing in the vocal booth listening
Actually in the control room listening to this song, tears running down my face, just like fuck, really? Its the vulnerable weak side of me that I dont let out very often. And its [sighs], yeah its that song. And I love it, I love it. I just love it, its very near and dear to me. Please Dont Leave Me - Please Dont Leave Me, another song I did with Max Martin. I can be really, really awful. And the first step is denial. Its about how we can get really nasty with the people that we love. And its just saying like fuck you
come back, I didnt mean it. Thats that.Mean - Fuck it, Im just gonna tell the truth. We can decide later if we wanna go there. One of the last trips that me and Carry took was me, Butch, and Carry, Nora, Butchs wife, Steve Astafin and Jade Astafin
really good friends of ours. Were like the six musketeers. We would always travel together. And it was one of our last trips and it was for Butchs birthday to O-Hi. We all went and brought a guitar and had a picnic. And I took Butch over, I hadnt started working on my record yet and I took butch over to the side, and you know, were all so close that we all knew that Carrie and I were unraveling. Even Carrie and I did. And it was okay. It was sad and weird and beautiful. We just knew it was one of our last trips as the six. And I took Butch to the side, away from them a little bit, and I said I wanna write a song called How Did We Get So Mean? And we started writing right there at the picnic in front of everyone. And it was awkward and beautiful and amazing. And theres still so much love at that picnic and so much honesty. Really good cheese and we started writing that song. And Butch was the first person I worked with after Carrie and I decided to split. And I sat there and cried through the rest of the song with Butch. We worked through it and I sang it into a laptop crying
sad. And I think everyone can relate to that song because I really do think that everyone can relate. My dad cried when he listened to that song.Zdroj: Sony BMG Music Entert.Publikoval: Gregi |
